Kanye West gives self-serving reason to explain North's fashion show tantrum
Kanye West gives self-serving reason to explain North's fashion show tantrum, Little North West threw a enormous tantrum on Sunday night while sitting front and center at her father, Kanye West's, debut Adidas fashion show at New York Fashion Week. The one-year-old could not be consoled by mom Kim Kardashian and eventually had to be taken backstage. While some suggested that North wasn’t a fan of her daddy’s new collection, Kanye actually had his own (self-serving) explanation as to what got his daughter so upset.
“Maybe she was just scared for her daddy,” he told i-D after the show. “She just wanted people to stop being mean to her daddy. Because she knows that her daddy loves the world and just wants to make it a more beautiful place.”The “mean” people that Kanye is likely referring to are those that criticized him for telling a news outlet after the Grammys that Beck, who won the Album of the Year award, should give his award to Beyonce, whom Kanye felt deserved it more.
"I just know that the Grammys, if they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us. We ain't gonna play with them no more. And Beck needs to respect artistry and he should've given his award to BeyoncĂ©,” Kanye said during the infamous diss. (He has since blamed “the voices” in his head for his rant.)
Kris Jenner didn’t blame Kanye’s critics (or the voices in Kanye's head) for North’s tantrum. Instead, she told her Instagram followers that it was likely hunger that caused the baby to cry.
Kris posted a photo of North crying at the show and captioned it, “Best pic AHAHAHAHA. North got a little fussy waiting for Daddy’s Show to start !!! We took her backstage for a snack right after this but just had to share…love the patience of @beyonce #AnnaWintour @kimkardashian #NYFW #YeezySeason #mommymoment.”
While Kris might have thought her 19-month-old granddaughter's tantrum was hilarious, not everyone in the crowd found it funny. According to the New York Daily News, Anne Slowey of Elle magazine was heard talking about North under her breath.
"Couldn't they leave it backstage?" she reportedly muttered, referring to the baby.
