Obama niece Leslie Robinson, President Obama's niece Leslie Robinson found herself as the subject of an unsettling threat at Monday night's NCAA women's tournament game between Princeton and Maryland.
USA Today reports that an eight-minute voicemail was left with the University of Maryland athletic department offices Monday afternoon. The message details that a man was driving on campus with a Glock handgun in his possession because Robinson, a freshman forward for Princeton, was present.
Undercover security officers stood near the Princeton bench for additional security, CBS Sports says. Secret Service officers were already present in the arena as Supreme Court justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan were attending the game, USA Today adds.
Robinson was not aware of the threat, but Princeton coach Courtney Banghart was informed prior to the game.
"Leslie is safe," Banghart tells the New York Daily News. "Keep the freaks out of the gym."
According to CBS Sports, Robinson is the daughter of Craig Robinson, the former Oregon State men's basketball coach and brother of first lady Michelle Obama.
President Obama wasn't present at Monday's game, however he attended Saturday's first-round game between Princeton and Wisconsin-Green Bay.
