Pi Kappa alpha death

Pi Kappa alpha death, The University of South Carolina’s Pi Kappa Alpha frat was suspended Wednesday as police investigate the death of a member.

A brother from the fraternity was found dead in a downtown Columbia house around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Police said there were no signs of foul play and an autopsy will be performed Thursday, but any further details about the student’s death were not released, Fox Carolina reported.

The 18-year-old student’s name has not been released.

The fraternity chapter released a statement saying it was being placed on “administrative suspension” due to the student’s death.

Neighbors said a huge St. Patrick's Day party was thrown in the frat house the night before the student’s body was found. There was still a beer keg and St. Patrick’s decorations on the frat house’s porch Wednesday afternoon.

“I would say there are three houses there, and I don't know who exactly lives in them, but there's always a frequency of parties going on,” neighbor Mehrdad Vejdani told Fox Carolina.

“At times, there can be a hundred people in that place.”

University spokesman Wes Hickman acknowledged that there were “a lot of rumors” about the investigation but declined to give more information about it.

“While we await further information we are focused on helping our community grieve and heal,” he said.
