Ryan Reynolds’s Daughter Will ‘Make Him Pay’ for Revealing Her Name, Ryan Reynolds admits that there’s a particular reason he’s protecting his new daughter’s name.
The actor, 38, joked about keeping hush-hush when it comes to details about his baby girl — because she could come back seeking vengeance on her dad when she’s all grown up.
“There’s zero secret about it. That little girl will grow up to be a teenager who will find out that I blurted her name out on national television and probably make me pay for it,” he told the Associated Press Friday while promoting Woman of Gold. “She will exact her revenge in searing, psychic pain!”
Reynolds and wife Blake Lively, 27, have continued to make the press rounds during their first months of parenthood — the Age of Adaline star delivered the couple’s first child late last year — but continue to keep their daughter’s name and birthdate under wraps.
Reynolds addressed the baby name rumors (it’s not Violet!) when he paid a visit to the Late Show with David Letterman in February. But he only revealed that the duo won’t share the secret through the media.
“We definitely [have a name]. I threw out the idea of just never naming the kid to be totally original, but, no, we have a name,” he told host David Letterman. “I don’t want to say it in a media context — I tell everyone who I meet, so it’ll come out.”
But the Self/less star is realistic about the general interest in the situation.
“When you put yourself in the public eye you have to accept certain aspects of it,” Reynolds tells the AP. “I think to some degree if you don’t court it you don’t have to deal with it so much.”
