Star Wars fan says Stormtrooper costume saved him from venomous snake bite

Star Wars fan says Stormtrooper costume saved him from venomous snake bite, A Star Wars fanatic has credited his Stormtrooper costume with saving his life when a poisonous snake tried to bite him.

Scott Loxley, who's walking around Australia dressed as a Stormtrooper to raise money for charity, claims he was attacked by King Brown snake near Yalboroo, in Queensland.

The 47-year-old said he thought the snake was dead but as he walked past, it tried to sink its teeth into his shins - only to be stopped by the plastic armour of his costume. In a video posted on his Facebook page Scott said he'd become used to seeing dead snakes on his 15,000km journey and walked straight past the snake as it was lying in a road.

“Ah, turns out he wasn’t dead,” he said.

“He’s lunged at me and bit me. But the good news is the armour – he bit me in the shin - and the armour actually protected me and stopped the bite.

“I could feel the teeth scraping on the plastic, but the armour actually stopped something."

The movie fan has already had one dangerous encounter when she shared a pool with Chopper, a five-and-a-half metre crocodile - in northern city of Darwin.

He's also eaten roadkill, including kangaroo, snakes and lizards as he aims to raise thousands of pounds for a children's hospital

Scott left Melbourne in 2013 and has been walking across Australia for 279 days and plans to make it back to the city in June.

On his fundraising aims, he said: "I am a member of the 501st Legion, an international not-for-profit Star Wars costuming organisation who give their time to raise much needed funds for varying charities.

"As a member, I believe I can help make a difference and support this terrific cause.

"I come from Greensborough in Victoria, Australia and supporting the build of the new Monash Children’s Hospital in Clayton means I am supporting my local children’s hospital who care for over 30,000 children every year.Building the new hospital will start in 2014 and will be completed in 2017. The increase in the number of beds will help meet the needs of children and families in our community."

Crossing through the sun-baked outback, Scott revealed that he does not have the ability to carry enough food so has been force to eat dead animals he finds by the roadside.

His one rule is: "If it's bloated I don't touch it - if it's still bleeding I eat it", and among the 'tasty treats' he has tucked into, are lizards, snakes, cow, goats and kangaroo."
