HBO renews Enlightened. HBO still 'Enlightened', HBO has renewed "Enlightened," a show about a self-destructive executive trying to rebuild her life. Other shows, including "Hung," "Bored to Death" and "How to Make It in America," weren't as fortunate.
American cable network HBO is renewing its Golden Globes-nominated freshman series Enlightened, but is axing three other series.
Hung and Bored to Death will not return for a fourth season, nor will How to Make it in America be back for a third cycle, the network said on Tuesday.
Enlightened, which ended its first season earlier this month, last week earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Comedy or Musical Series, as well as a nomination for its star, Laura Dern. On the show, Dern plays an unstable career woman who wants to be a social activist.
HBO will premiere six new series in 2012. They include Luck, an untitled drama series created by Aaron Sorkin, Veep, Girls, Life's Too Short and Angry Boys, which debuts on New Year's Day.
'X Factor' host axed? Steve Jones, host of "The X Factor," Steve Jones Set To Be Axed From X Factor USA Host Will Not Have His Contract Renewed For Next Season...reportedly won't return next season. The former Welsh model, who some speculate is dating one of the show's judges, reportedly is "devastated" by the prospect. Steve Jones will reportedly not have his X Factor USA contract extended after the audience failed to warm to him and his style. Former T4 host Jones landed the plum role ahead of the UK host Dermot O'Leary and survived the axe when it fell on Cheryl Cole in the early days of this years series. However, as sources claim, this weeks Final will be Jones' last appearance on the show. "Steve keeps saying that living in LA is a dream come true," a source told The Mirror. "He loves the weather and the women, and he loves working on X Factor – it’s just a shame that the US public has not warmed to him."
Adding: "He got terrible reviews from critics when he started and things haven’t got better."
"There have been mistakes and he just doesn’t seem to have the knack for dealing with contestants. The executives at Fox have already decided not to renew his contract and so, short of a miracle happening, it is pretty much a done deal that he will not take part next season." Steve Jones was linked to show judge Nicole Scherzinger following her split from Lewis Hamilton earlier this year.

russell simmons all american muslim, Simmons wants ads on Muslim show. All-American Muslim , Russell Simmons All-American Muslim Ad Space , Russell Simmons Lowe's , Entertainment NewsHip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, 54, tweeted that he wants to buy ad space on the new reality TV show “All-American Muslim”. Simmons acted in response to home improvement retailer Lowe’s pulling its ads from the show. Simmons and another celebrity are also pushing for a boycott of Lowe's. After Lowes created some open ad time, Russell Simmons filled it in a high profile way. The music legend and entrepreneur tweeted on Monday that he bought all the remaining ad space on "All-American Muslim," the TLC reality show that has been at the center of a recent media buy controversy.
"Just purchased remaining spots for #allamericanmuslim for next week," he wrote. "The show is now sold out! keep your money @lowes and we will keep ours."
Corporations such as Lowe's have pulled their ads from the show, under pressure from conservative protests led by the Florida Family Association. Simmons has called for a boycott of Lowe's, pushing a petition via Twitter.
Simmons later said that corporations want their longterm ad space, making it difficult for him to purchase all that he wanted. In the space, he'll push his Visa Rush Card.
This isn't the first time Simmons has put his substantial wealth towards public activist causes; in November, he offered to pay for the cleanup of Zuccotti Park, in support of the Occupy Wall Street movement.
James blames Bullock, "American Chopper" star Jesse James Blames Ego for Hurting Sandra Bullock, Will Never Cheat on New Love Jesse James says he lost himself in his marriage to A-lister Sandra Bullock. James and Bullock split up after her Oscar win amid allegations of infidelity.
The TV mechanic Jesse James' marriage to "The Blind Side" star Sandra Bullock fell apart in March 2010 when his infidelities were exposed in a U.S. tabloid, just days after she thanked him for "having her back" during her Best Actress Oscar acceptance speech.
James, who is now set to wed celebrity tattoo artist Kat Von D, accepts he is "100 per cent to blame" for the heartbreaking betrayal, but he's adamant his new wife-to-be will never have to worry about his infidelities.
He tells CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight, "I'm 100 per cent to blame, I take full accountability for my actions, you know, no one forced me to do what I did."
"She (Sandra Bullock) told me before that she forgives me... but there's probably people now that I'm closer to than I ever was to her."
When asked if he was referring to his current fiancee Von D, he replies, "I think so. I think I took a look at the things I never wanted to look at before. With Kat, I have a partner and we're connected on a higher level."
And James believes he treated Bullock badly because his ego had become so inflated after landing a huge movie star as a wife.
He adds, "That's what I need to ask, was it me trying to be a bigshot, was it just my ego? Like, 'I'm Jesse James, I'm a bad motherf**ker and I can have a movie star for a wife.' I think a lot of that was, it was my ego and that's why I hurt her and why I didn't just leave the relationship when I should have, because my ego said I need this wife so I'm cool or so people like me or whatever. The bad recipe for anything - I think you should follow your heart and what's right for you and like Kat, we were friends for a long time, and had mutual respect, and I think that was the problem, I don't think me and Sandy were ever really friends. We met and went straight into marriage and that was that."
'Gay' penguins get chick. A pair of "gay" penguins in a Chinese zoo have been given a chick to raise. Zookeepers say they are helping out another penguin that had twins.
The twins hatched at the Harbin Polar Land in northern China, and to give both babies the best chance in life the aquarium decided to give one of the twins to another set of parents. The 'gay' penguin couple are notorious in the aquarium's penguin community and they have been caught many a time trying to steal eggs during the hatching season. Penguin males have a natural instinct for parenting, in the wild the male penguins share the duty of incubating the un-hatched eggs with the female. Aquarium staff are hoping that the Chinese pair should be able to look after the new chick without too much of a problem. In other 'gay' penguin news it was revealed that the two African penguins at Toronto Zoo that are to be separated will be reunited with each other in the spring. The zoo caused an outcry when it announced that it was to separate 'gay' penguins Buddy and Pedro in order to preserve the endangered species. But the zoo has revealed that the couple are to be united in spring after they have attempted to mate them with females in the zoo's colony.

Both panelists have received harassment filled with violent language on Facebook and Twitter, and sources with the production confirm to Gossip Cop that there’s been “a ton” of vitriol directed at Abdul and Scherzinger since Ryniewicz’s ouster.
Online outrage is nothing new in TV talent competitions, but the sheer volume of angry, threatening messages has alarmed the “X Factor” personalities.
Gossip Cop is seeking to confirm whether additional security precautions will be taken.
We’ve also reached out to reps for Abdul and Scherzinger but have yet to hear back.

In the wake of Fringe's shocking third season finale "The Day We Died," a new featurette sees the cast teasing what to expect from season four.
We're not sure if Joshua Jackson should be all smiles, considering the reality-bending twists Fringe writers will have to come up with to get Peter Bishop back on the show for the fourth season due out this Fall. Not only that, but he'll have to watch his back now that Lincoln Lee (Seth Gabel) has officially been promoted to series regular.
It's been only a few weeks since the shocking events ofFringe's third season finale "The Day We Died," which saw Jackson's Peter Bishop suddenly fading out of existence after using the machine to tear holes between universes and finally bridge the gap in the parallel universe war (isn't this show great?), but already cast and crew are hard at work at plotting out season four.
And don't you worry folks, showrunners Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman have assured viewers that Joshua Jackson will indeed return next season. But who might be penning and producing the pages that see Peter's mysterious return? Why, none other than former LOST, Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer writer David Fury, according to his twitter!
Fringe fans will see much less of Kirk Acevedo's Charlie Francis however, who despite the universes merging has been cast in NBC's picked up series Prime Suspect, precluding him from appearing in more than three or four episodes.
The latest Fringe featurette also teases some tantalizing possibilities for season four that actors Lance Reddick andJohn Noble point out, both putting for that the Observers will likely take a larger role next season, while the recent alliance between universes could prove handy when Walter and Walternate face a common enemy!
Check out what else the cast had to say below, and scribble on the board your own theories for Fringe's future in the comments below!
Stephen Fry does it all. He writes, acts, speaks, blogs -- basically, he's putting us all out of jobs. His latest role will be that of an ordinary human, albeit one who gets to hang out with hobbits and dwarves and dragons.
Compared to the The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hobbitwas always a lighter adventure, a prequel meant for younger readers as a segue into the epic, dark experiences of the Fellowship of the Ring and their quest to Mordor. Keeping with his past trilogy, it's likely that Peter Jackson's upcoming adaptation of The Hobbit will keep the same grim tone, but with recent casting additions, there may be room in the film for a bit more comedy.
According to Peter Jackson's official Facebook page, British comedian/writer Stephen Fry has been cast in the film as the Master of Laketown. Bilbo Baggins and his posse of dwarves are welcomed to the town by the Master, who's real intentions are driven by greed and weakness.
Jackson and Fry have a previously relationship, spending a good part of the last decade working together on a remake of the 1955 war film The Dam Busters. Now Jackson's expanded his relationship with Fry, bringing him into theHobbit fold in a role that could be more substantial than the original text would have you believe, now that the source material is being broken into two parts.
For those unfamiliar with Fry, or simply need a reason to love this bit of casting, watch this:
Jackson also updated with a few more casting additions, including relative unknown Ryan Gage as the Master of Watertown's slimy servant Alfrid and Conan Stevens as the orc Azgog. Jackson posted a picture of himself and Stevens on set, to give you an idea how tall this lumbering actor really is (Jackson is aroundn 6'5"). Not someone you want to mess around with.
The Hobbit is a strong contender for a panel at SDCC this year, so keep your eyes peeled for official announcements soon.
Showtime announces former Off the Map star Aimee Garcia will join the sixth season of Dexter as Batista's sister and a new nanny for baby Harrison.
Ah, fresh blood. We aren't exactly sure what happened to Dexter's old nanny, but we don't mind another new face for season six one bit, particularly one this pretty.
Fresh off the cancellation of ABC's Off the Map, TVLine reports that Dexter has recruited Map star Aimee Garcia for a new role in the coming season as baby Harrison's new nanny Jamie, and none other than Angel Batista's sister herself! Could there be romance in the air, amidst all the blood spatter? After Lumen left (and thank Harry she did), we know Dexter doesn't mind getting down a bit in the wake of his wife's murder.
Oh, and don't worry about Dexter's former nanny Sonya, as the report points out "sources confirm she either got fired, quit, or died." Hmm. Alright then.
Garcia joins several new faces for the cast of season six, most recently hip-hop artist and actor Mos Def, and the big news of Colin Hanks' season-long recurring role as "Travis, a highly intelligent young expert on ancient artifacts who gets linked to a series of grisly murders in Miami."
Other known details for season six include the reveal that Dexter's relationship with sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) will take center stage this season, and the announcement of three as-yet-uncast recurring roles for the season.
Dexter begins shooting in Los Angeles May 25th for a likely Fall premiere of the sixth season's first episode, titled "Those Kinds of Things!" (SpoilerTV)
But don't take our word for it! Check out the teaser trailer, and make your bloody mark in the comments section below!
The Bridesmaids scene-stealer is doubling-down with two new comedies.
When I first reviewed Bridesmaids I was so swept up with Kristen Wiig's performance (the best film comedienne since Madeline Kahn) that there were few column inches left to talk about the other performances.
As I exited the SXSW premiere, however, I recall saying to friends that "if it were a just world, Melissa McCarthy would be starring in films of her own."
Well, there's nothing like a movie overshooting its estimates (it made $25 million at the box office this weekend) and receiving near-universal praise to make miracles happen.
Deadline reports that McCarthy is teaming with Bridesmaids co-writer Annie Mumolo on a quest movie to steal the Stanley Cup for her dying husband. The husband will be played by McCarthy's actual husband, Ben Falcone, who plays the object of McCarthy's affection in the soon-to-be-if-not-already airplane scene in Bridesmaids.
What disgusting things are in store for this noble vessel?
Entertainment Weekly is also reporting that Bridesmaids director Paul Feig is setting up a project for McCarthy to star in. Nothing is yet known, except for the quote pulled in The Film Stage's article, "“If an actress like Melissa becomes a huge star? THAT is a world I want to live in.”
McCarthy uglied herself a bit for the role in Bridesmaids, but no matter how you slice it she has "unconventional Hollywood looks." To that end, we must all do what we can to support Ms. McCarthy and her career. Because she's really effing funny and we need more of that.
