Barron Trump Makes Rare Appearance At White House

Barron Trump looked handsome strolling across the White House lawn in a rare appearance on Friday with his mom and dad, Melania and Donald Trump. The 10-year-old has lived in a home above the clouds for a good portion of his life, so living on the ground level with plenty of green grass taking the place of the pavement in the city will be a different view for Barron.

Of course the Trumps’ Florida home has plenty of green lawn to offer Barron, but the White House will offer so much more for a lad Barron’s age than lawns for a view. Barron is moving into the most historic house in the country, which will certainly give him the edge when it comes to his future history classes. This puts him one-up on his future classmates, as he can say that he’s living within the historic walls when learning about the White House in school.

Barron, who was dressed in a very collegian-looking navy blue blazer, mirrored the color of his father’s suit. Both Barron and Donald Trump sported white collars and with Melania’s bright red coat, the trio were looking very patriotic in their red, white, and blue. Barron appears to have grown taller since attending his father’s inauguration. He looks much older than his years because of his tall slender build.

These latest pictures show Donald, Melania, and Barron making their way to the Marine One helicopter across the White House lawn. Barron and his parents were seen walking the grounds on Friday at the start of their Florida journey, reports Us Weekly. They were then transported away by helicopter for the first leg of their trip to their Mar-a-Lago home, which some have deemed the Florida White House.

The news of Melania deciding to move herself and Barron into the White House in June was a pleasant surprise for many Americans this week. According to reports, a school in D.C. is already picked out for Barron to attend in the fall when the school calendar year starts back up. Seeing Melania and Barron walking along the White House lawn with Donald Trump offers up an image of the way things should be. Now with Melania’s decision to move to Washington in June with Barron, this is just one snapshot of many more to come.

Maybe Melania is realizing how the admiration for her as a first lady far outweighs the disparaging remarks thrown her way since stepping into this role? Could this be the reason she’s confident enough today to seal her future plans of moving to D.C. with Barron once his school year is out?

No one can blame Melania for being apprehensive about moving into the White House after the polarized welcoming she got from the people throughout the nation. When Donald Trump was first elected the president of the nation, the treatment from the press must have been a rude awakening for Melania. Instead of feeling it was an honor to be the first lady, it must have felt like a harrowing task with all the nastiness that was thrown her way.

Times have changed and more and more people are embracing Donald Trump’s vision for the future of this country, but there’s still a ways to go. Melania Trump continues to win over many of the critics each time she is seen in public. Unlike her husband, Melania doesn’t retaliate against those who criticize her by biting back. She holds her head high and continues on her way, showing America that she is one classy first lady. To be fair, Donald Trump warned his critics while still on the campaign trail that he won’t bite first, but he will bite harder once someone verbally attacks him. Most would agree that Trump was true to his word with this statement.

Pilots ill Emergency Landing - Ill pilots cause emergency landing. A British Airways flight from London was forced to land after two pilots became sick at the same time. The plane was only minutes into the flight when the captain reportedly made a "panicked" call for aid. Both pilots were given oxygen masks to continue the flight. A British Airways passenger plane 20 minutes into a flight from Heathrow had to make an emergency landing after both pilots were taken ill.

The captain and first officer both reported feeling lightheaded as the plane climbed to around 20,000 feet on the flight from London to Glasgow.

According to the Daily Mail, the captain made a 'panicked' call to cabin crew on the PA system, asking for help from a senior member.

They were supplied with oxygen masks and made a request for an emergency return to Heathrow.

The Airbus A321 landed safely, but when paramedics arrived, both the pilots reported feeling like they were going to 'pass out'.

The Civil Aviation Authority was notified and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch are looking into why the pilots both became ill, reports the BBC.

A spokeswoman for BA confirmed the pilots had reported feeling 'unwell' and said the company's pilots were highly trained to deal with these kind of circumstances.

Shee added that they had 'followed normal procedure' by putting on oxygen masks, and that passenger safety was paramount.

Once the plane had returned to Heathrow, passengers were flown to Glasgow on a replacement service with a new flight crew.

Her attorney claims a brain tumor caused the shoplifting incident. He says it's benign. And he says she's receiving treatment.

A California lawmaker accused of shoplifting from a department store has pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count of grand theft.
Democratic Assemblywoman Mary Hayashi of Castro Valley appeared in San Francisco Superior Court on Friday to enter her plea.

Authorities said Hayashi was arrested in October after surveillance cameras at the Neiman Marcus store at Union Square showed her walking out the doors with unpurchased clothing in her shopping bag. She was accused of stealing nearly $2,500 worth of items, including leather pants.
Hayashi previously pleaded not guilty to a felony charge. A judge agreed to reduce the charge at the Friday hearing.
She was immediately sentenced to 3 years of probation and a small fine.

PETA New Year's opossum drop. BRASSTOWN, N.C. – A national animal rights group wants a North Carolina man to abandon his famous New Year's Eve Opossum Drop.The Washington-based People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals on Thursday said that Clay Logan's event is "cruel and illegal."
Logan, owner of Clay's Corner near the Georgia state line, hosts the parody of the Times Square Ball Drop as a family-friendly and alcohol-free New Year's Eve party.
The opossum is not actually dropped. It's lowered while inside a Plexiglas box.
Logan was undeterred after hearing about PETA's allegation. He's been down this road before.
In 2005, the group threatened to sue him for not having proper permits to keep a wild animal so he placed a dead opossum in the box and raised it up the pole outside his gas station. The opossum was road-kill.
The crowd, which can number as high as 3,000 with good weather, was not pleased that year and neither was Logan.
"People didn't like it at all," he said. "I got scolded heavy but I said 'Hey, I can't afford to be sued.'"
Logan said he has all his permits, though PETA disagrees.
He said an inspector with the U.S. Department of Agriculture visited him this week and approved of his care for this year's opossum. He names all of them OP.
"At 10 o'clock we bring the guests in and we will raise him up and he sits there for two hours and looks down on everybody — including PETA — and after it's over with we release him," he said.
Logan said the opossum are not harmed.
Some, he said, even hesitate to leave because they've enjoyed the two weeks of dog food and a dry place to sleep that come with being selected for the party.
He picks his opossum after treeing two or three with a hunting dog. He likes the ones with a lot of white in their fur. He said they tend to be gentle compared to the darker opossums.
Opossums have a natural defense called sulling, which is playing dead. He said none of his opossums have ever played dead during the event.
PETA says Logan doesn't have the proper North Carolina permits to keep an animal captive. It has asked the state Wildlife Resources Commission to stop the event.
An official with the agency didn't immediately return a message on Thursday.
PETA said the opossum "suffers through a barrage of terrifying stimuli" such as fireworks and gunfire.
"Ignorance of the law is not a defense, and cruelty to animals is indefensible," PETA Director Delcianna Winders said in a written statement. "Using a captive opossum as the centerpiece of a raucous party is cruel and illegal."
The party, which is free, includes a church choir, a blessing and a tribute to soldiers.
"We do the Lord's work the first half and then we turn the Devil loose the second half," Logan said
The Devil's part comes with men dressed as women for a beauty contest, he said. Logan's quick to point out the men are not in drag.
"They are southern gentlemen dressed up as southern ladies," he said. "I don't like it to be wrote up as men in drag because these guys will whup you over that."
He said a PETA representative visited him and asked him to use a toy opossum but he declined because of the way the group has treated him in the past.
Logan said he has no plans to cancel.
"It's a New Year's Eve party that you will remember what you done no matter how much fun you have," he said.

baby seal home couch. A New Zealand woman thought she was hallucinating when a clattering noise prompted her to run downstairs and check on the cats - and she found a baby seal in her kitchen.

A seal pup had wandered from his nearby waterfront home, through the residential area where Annette Swoffer lives, and finally wriggled though the cat door at her house, the New Zealand Herald reported.

“I thought the cats brought a rabbit or something in, so I went down and had a look – and there’s a seal in my kitchen,” she said.

“I was standing there thinking, ‘this is really strange.’”

After calling a neighbor over to verify what she was seeing was true, Swoffer called the SPCA.

“They were giggling away and I’m saying, ‘I’m not drunk, I’m not lying,’ there’s a seal in my house,” she told the New Zealand Herald.

Meanwhile, the seal, undisturbed, waddled right past Swoffer into her living room and plopped down on the couch.

“Then it looks at me with those huge brown eyes,” she said to the New Zealand Herald. “It was so cute, but I didn’t touch it because you don’t with wild animals.”

The SPCA called the Department of Conservation, which was already on the hunt for the missing seal, who had been spotted traipsing in someone else’s garden earlier in the afternoon.

The department removed the stray pup and returned him to the water.

The thief took $10,000 in cash, but returned the purse and Lohan's ID According to a report by TMZ, the actress's purse was snatched at a party on December 10 after she left it in a car while attending the event. She later realized the $5,000 purse was missing.

Honolulu Police told OnTheRedCarpet.com correspondent Tony Cabrera that the incident occurred at 1 a.m. An officer responded to the call of a car break-in and the actress reported that the property was missing from a rented jeep parked in residence driveway in Laie in the North Shore area of Oahu.

The purse was not lost for long, however, when it was returned the following day by a local, according to TMZ. The purse was missing $10,000 but her passport and other important materials, like Lohan's probation documents, remained inside. The actress' spokesperson later confirmed the report to ABC News saying, "The only thing that was missing was the money."

The travel documents were important because the actress, a former child star known for films such as "The Parent Trap," "Freaky Friday" and "Mean Girls," is scheduled to appear in court on December 14.

Lohan has been in trouble in recent years with rehab stints and legal issues. Earlier this year, Lohan was ordered to complete 480 hours of community service at a morgue after a judge ruled the actress violated her 2007 probation with a misdemeanor theft charge.

She recently talked about her troubles in an interview with Playboy magazine set to hit newsstands on December 16. (See photo, above)

Lohan, 25, told Playboy that over the past five years she's learned "that ultimately we are each responsible for ourselves and for our actions."

"Looking back, I probably would have listened to and taken more advice from the people whom I admire and would have followed through with it more," she added. "My stubbornness at 18 and 19 years old got in the way."

She also said, "During the past five years, I've learned that time flies faster than you think, and because you only live once you have to learn from your mistakes, live your dreams and be accountable."

Her issue of Playboy, which includes a 10-page nude pictorial, was meant to be released in January but due to the leak, the hardcopy will be released early on December 16. It was made available online on December 11. The cover features the actress straddling a red Playboy bunny logo chair wearing nothing but black heels.

Thousands of migratory birds were killed or injured after apparently mistaking a Wal-Mart parking lot, football fields and other snow-covered areas of southern Utah for bodies of water and plummeting to the ground in what one state wildlife expert called the worst mass bird crash she'd ever seen.
Crews went to work cleaning up the dead birds and rescuing the injured survivors after the creatures crash-landed in the St. George area Monday night.
By midday Wednesday, volunteers had helped rescue more than 3,000 birds, releasing them into a nearby pond. There's no count on how many died, although officials estimate it's upwards of 1,500.
"They're just everywhere," said Teresa Griffin, wildlife program manager for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resource's southern region. "It's been nonstop. All our employees are driving around picking them up, and we've got so many people coming to our office and dropping them off."
No human injuries or property damage have been reported.
Officials say stormy conditions probably confused the flock of eared grebes, a duck-like aquatic bird likely making its way to the Mexican coast for the winter.
The birds plunged into a Cedar City Wal-Mart parking lot, football fields, highways and over miles of property that had been blanketed by about 3 inches of gleaming snow. The rescue effort that started Tuesday afternoon included residents collecting grebes -- which weigh about a pound -- and delivering them in cardboard boxes to the wildlife department's office.
Officers said once they dropped the birds into bodies of water in southern Utah's Washington County, including a pond near Hurricane, the water-loving creatures were "very active."
Many of the birds had broken wings or other injuries from the accident. Wildlife agency spokesman Lynn Chamberlain said the birds' hollow bones can heal, although humans can't do much to help the process.
Keeping them in water -- where they have food and won't have to fly -- improves their chances.
"We're giving them the best shot they can," Chamberlain said. "The likelihood is that most of them will survive."

Bieber Gomez romantic dinner tip. Oh to be a waitress at the restaurant Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber are eating at. Yes, you'd get to spy on them and inappropriately flirt with Justin Bieber but the main bonus would be the whopping tip at the end. Apparently after Justin Bieber and Selena's last dinner date they tipped almost the same price as the meal and we're guessing the meal wasn't cheap!
While Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were in Washington for the Washington concert, Justin according to Hollywood Life rented out the $10,000 a night presidential suite at the Four Seasons hotel and treated Selena to a bang tidy steak dinner.

An eye witness revealed: "Justin and Selena were extremely polite and friendly. They were wearing matching red scarfs and were very affectionate with each other. I don’t think they ever stopped smiling.”
They reportedly ate a shed load of food including filet mignon, wood roasted magical mushrooms and coconut cream pavlova *salivation*.

Justin proceeded to clear the bill. The Hollywood Life source added: "Justin was very generous with his tip. Let's just say the tip was almost the same amount as the entire dinner."

Apples fall from sky. After a series of storm warnings, drivers in the evening rush hour were prepared for almost anything.
Except, that is, for it to start raining apples.
Scores of them battered car roofs and windscreens before landing in the road at a busy junction in Coundon, Coventry.
The deluge of fruit brought traffic to a standstill at 6.45pm on Monday.
A 20-yard stretch of the B4098 was left strewn with green slush after the incident.
One motorist, who was travelling with her husband, said: ‘The apples fell out of nowhere. They were small and green and hit the bonnet hard. Everyone had to stop their cars suddenly.’
The phenomenon is believed to be down to a mini tornado which touched down elsewhere, sucking apples from the ground or from trees.
Such a powerful vacuum could have travelled for many miles before the tornado’s energy dissipated, depositing the fruit over Coventry.

Another theory is that the apples could have fallen from the hold of a plane.
Brian Meakins, 63, was stunned when he opened his front door and found his garden full of smashed apples.
The retired forklift truck driver said: ‘At first I assumed kids must have thrown them because we do get the occasional egg and apple thrown but there’s way too many for that.’
Jim Dale, senior meteorologist from British Weather Services, said the event was probably caused by ‘returning polar maritime air’.
‘Essentially these events are caused when a vortex of air, kind of like a mini tornado, lifts things off the ground rising up into the atmosphere until the air around it causes them to fall to earth again.
‘Returning polar maritime air is such an unstable condition and it basically means air returning from the polar regions which is very unstable.
‘We’ve all heard of fish and frogs falling from the sky and apples is certainly unusual because they have some weight to them but it is not out of the realms of possibility.’

Kepler planet confirmed.The newly confirmed planet, Kepler-22b, is about 2.4 times the radius of Earth. Scientists don't yet know if Kepler-22b has a predominantly rocky, gaseous or liquid composition, but its discovery is a step closer to finding Earth-like planets1.
The "habitable zone" of a planetary system refers to the band of orbits where liquid water could exist on a planet’s surface. Kepler has recently discovered more than 1,000 new planet candidates. Ten of these candidates are near-Earth-size and orbit in the habitable zone of their host star. Candidates require follow-up observations to verify they are actual planets.

"This is a major milestone on the road to finding Earth's twin," said Douglas Hudgins, Kepler program scientist at NASA Headquarters in Washington.
Kepler-22b is located 600 light-years away. While the planet is larger than Earth, its orbit of 290 days around a sun-like star resembles that of our world. The planet's host star belongs to the same class as our sun, called G-type, although it is slightly smaller and cooler.
Kepler discovers planets and planet candidates by measuring dips in the brightness of more than 150,000 stars to search for planets that cross in front, or "transit," the stars. Kepler requires at least three transits to verify a signal as a planet.

"Fortune smiled upon us with the detection of this planet," said William Borucki, Kepler principal investigator at NASA Ames Research Center at Moffett Field, Calif., who led the team that discovered Kepler-22b. "The first transit was captured just three days after we declared the spacecraft operationally ready. We witnessed the defining third transit over the 2010 holiday season."

Amnesty International Bush arrest Africa

Amnesty International on Thursday urged Ethiopia, Tanzania and Zambia to arrest former US president George W. Bush for violating international torture laws, during his African tour this week.

Bush is touring the countries through to Monday to promote efforts to fight cervical and breast cancers, and Amnesty said the three nations have an obligation to arrest him under international law.

"All countries to which George W. Bush travels have an obligation to bring him to justice for his role in torture," said Amnesty's senior legal adviser Matt Pollard.

"International law requires that there be no safe haven for those responsible for torture; Ethiopia, Tanzania and Zambia must seize this opportunity to fulfil their obligations and end the impunity George W. Bush has so far enjoyed."

"Amnesty International recognizes the value of raising awareness about cervical and breast cancer in Africa, the stated aim of the visit, but this cannot lessen the damage to the fight against torture caused by allowing someone who has admitted to authorising water-boarding to travel without facing the consequences prescribed by law," the group said in a statement.

Amnesty made a similar appeal to Canada in October when Bush visited British Columbia for an economic summit.

The group claimed Bush authorised the use of "enhanced interrogation techniques" and "waterboarding" on detainees held in secret by the Central Intelligence Agency between 2002 and 2009.

Amnesty's case relies on the public record, US documents obtained through access to information requests, Bush's own memoir and a Red Cross report critical of the US's war on terror policies.

Amnesty cites several instances of alleged torture of detainees at the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, naval facility, in Afghanistan and in Iraq, by the US military.

The cases include that of Zayn al Abidin Muhammed Husayn (known as Abu Zubaydah) and 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, both arrested in Pakistan. The two men were waterboarded a total of 266 times from 2002 to 2003, according to the CIA inspector general, cited by Amnesty.
