Top 10 Unnecessary Remakes

Top 10 Unnecessary Remakes, With the remake of the 80s classic Footloose being released next month, Hollywood has been on roll remaking classic films that don't need to be remade. As a matter of fact it's getting to be a constant thing for studio execs to remake classic films,
instead of creating something new and fresh, or better yet not even produce films that fans have been asking for that have been sitting in development hell. Here are 10 of those remakes both projected and released that should have never been remade to begin with.
A Nightmare on Elmstreet

Why they even thought of remaking this beyond me. No one can replace Robert Englund as Freddie Kruger. And as much as I have enjoyed Jackie Earl Haley, this was not a good choice for him.
The Crow

The Crow was plagued with many set problems that unfortunately led to the death of Brandon Lee. However, that didn't stop it from becoming an instant "Cult Classic" Now there is talks of remaking The Crow with either Mark Wahlberg or Channing Tatum taking over the role of slain rock star Eric Draven who comes back from the dead to avenge the death of his fiancee and make the wrong things right. This one really upsets me the most!
Footloose

This first one was an 80s classic with a soundtrack to boot... And it had Kevin Bacon! Why is this being remade again?
Planet of the Apes

OK I like Tim Burtons work... To an extent! However, why he chose to remake Planet of the Apes is beyond me. This film just flat out stunk and wasn't necessary. However, Rise of the Planet of the Apes is nothing short of fantastic.
Psycho

Alfred Hitchcock was spinning in his grave when Gus Van Sant decided to remake this classic in Horror and suspense. Which by the way was direct plagiarism of Hitchcocks original film. The only change made was the actors and the fact the film is in color.
The Karate Kid

Another 80s classic that should have never been remade to begin with. I'm not going to even start with this one.
Porky's

Shock jock Howard Stern is producing a remake of what started the genre of "Sex Comedies." Howard, leave it alone man!
Escape From New York

Is it just me or is all John Carpenter's films being remade? First we had two Halloween films, a prequel to The Thing and now there is talks of remaking the 80s cult classic "They Live." But this is going way too far. Kurt Russel is Snake Plissken!
Old Boy

Spike Lee is looking to remake this Korean film classic that shocked audiences around the world... WHY?
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

And last we have a remake that shouldn't have been touched to begin with. Not even Jessica Biel herself could save the pile of crap. The original had shock value, the remake tried way too hard.
