Depression could become tropical storm for Baja California peninsula, The National Hurricane Center issued a tropical storm advisory for the southern Baja California peninsula Friday.
The center said the depression could become a tropical storm Friday.
The tropical depression, centered 350 miles southwest of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, was moving northwest, the center said in its 2 a.m. PDT advisory.
The maximum sustained winds were clocked at 35 mph, and the depression was expected to produce rainfall accumulations of 1-3 inches across the southern portion of the Baja peninsula.
The storm was also expected to cause flash flooding, as well as life-threatening surf and rip current conditions, the center states.
The depression was expected to weaken in about 36 hours, when it moves over cold water, the center reported.
