Judge Judy’s son, Putnam County District Attorney Adam Levy, is suing the local sheriff for defamation in the latest twist in a long feud fit for reality TV.

Levy, son of the TV judge, said he’ll file the $5 million suit against Putnam Sheriff Donald Smith on Wednesday for comments Smith made regarding the ongoing investigation into the alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl by Levy’s personal trainer.

Alexandru Hossu allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl and is subject of a lawsuit between Putnam County District Attorney Adam Levy and Putnam County Sheriff Donald Smith.

“Smith, motivated by malice and political gamesmanship, orchestrated a public smear campaign by disseminating information about Levy that he knew to be false,” Levy said in a release. The sheriff, running for reelection, called the suit “blatantly political.”

True to form, Judge Judy Sheindlin did not mince words in supporting her son. “Adam Levy is a principled, honorable and dedicated public servant,” she said. “When someone attacks his character professionally or personally they best be prepared to back it up. Shut up, or pay up."
