Blenkinsopp Castle for sale

Blenkinsopp Castle for sale, Blenkinsopp Castle in Great Britain is up for sale for a mere £325,000 ($600,000), and comes with turreted walls, a watch tower, and even a ghost.

According to The Daily Mail, the castle dates back to the 14th century. In the medieval era, family member Bryan de Blenkinsopp was said to have married a French woman who was plain, but possessed a chest of gold so heavy it took a dozen men to carry it. After they married, she refused to tell him where she'd hidden the chest.

Enraged, Blenkinsopp left her and the castle behind. She grew old and sad, died, and kept on haunting the castle – becoming "The White Lady" to generations of residents who claim to have seen her specter.

By the 19th century the castle was in ruins, and was eventually rebuilt around 1877 as a mansion. It suffered a fire in 1954, and was renovated once again.

These days, the two-floor, Grade II residential property is comprised of two reception rooms, four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a dining kitchen, and a study. It's located in Greenhead, Northumbria, a small hamlet of roughly 70 homes, and roughly a mile from Hadrian's Wall.

"Most castles would cost seven figures so this is a very attractive opportunity indeed," said the property's listing agent, Andrew Coulson, according to The Chronicle (UK).

"It is in a prominent position and has all the charm of a castle – ballustrades, thick walls, narrow windows and fabulous stone fireplaces – but with all the modern fittings. There is also a little bit of potential if you want to do a bit more, such as uncover another hidden fireplace."
