Ford Debuts New 600HP GT Supercar and It’s Almost Perfect

Ford Debuts New 600HP GT Supercar and It’s Almost Perfect, We heard the rumors, but now, it’s finally here. This is the all-new Ford GT supercar that we’ve all been waiting for. And it’s even better than we all could have dreamed.

Under the hood is a twin-turbo EcoBoost V6— but don’t worry, with 600 horsepower you won’t be missing a big burly V8. With all that grunt, that makes it the most powerful EcoBoost engine Ford has ever shoved into one of its cars. EVER.

The entire body, while also breathtaking, was built exclusively out of carbon fiber. That carbon fiber construction keeps things light (no official weight yet). The body shape pays perfect homage to the original GT40 and the GT we saw back in 2005.

There is one problem, though: no manual. At least not yet. The car that’s sitting in Detroit as we speak comes with paddle shifters. We’ll have to wait and see whether Ford has a manual version waiting in the wings or if they’re going to keep it automatic.

The new GT will go on sale in 2016. It will be a part of Ford’s 12-car performance the brand will have in place by 2020. Things are getting very, very exciting in Detroit.
