Julia Roberts to make a 'Batkid' movie

Julia Roberts to make a 'Batkid' movie, San Francisco's smallest superhero just bagged America's Sweetheart.

Julia Roberts will produce and star in a movie about Batkid, the 5-year-old leukemia patient who was granted his wish to become a superhero for a day. On a bright November day, 25,000 volunteers answered the Make A Wish Foundation's call and turned San Francisco into Gotham City, cheering him on along the way.

Roberts has fallen for the story and will adapt Batkid Begins: The Wish Heard Around the World, a documentary about to make its debut at the Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.

The documentary recaps the day Miles Scott (who is now in remission) became a "hero," and, dressed in Batman's finest, completed staged "missions" all across San Francisco.

Twitter tracked Batkid's footsteps all day, and mayor was even in on it, presenting Scott with a key to the city.

Talk about heroics: the pint-sized Batman got a shout-out from President Obama – and even sparked bipartisanship on Capitol Hill.

Batkid Begins debuted its trailer at Comic-Con, and premieres at Slamdance on Saturday.
