Official in Yemen says cease-fire reached with Houthis
Official in Yemen says cease-fire reached with Houthis, Yemen's Information Minister says President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi has reached cease-fire deal with Houthi rebels after hours of heavy clashes around the presidential palace.
Minister Nadia Sakkaf told The Associated Press on Monday that Hadi will hold a meeting with his political advisers and representatives from the Houthis later in the day. She also said Hadi was at his private residence, away from the fighting.
The cease-fire came after gun battles earlier Monday in Sanaa, which Houthis seized in September in their march across much of Yemen.
The clashes come two days after Houthis abducted Hadi's chief of staff.
