Police: 1- year-old child assaulted, killed in Lancaster,Lancaster City Police say 1-year-old, Ja'Zirah Rodgers of North Plum Street in Lancaster is dead and her mother, Shondraya Lafay Dickson, 23, is charged with criminal homicide.
Investigators say on Thursday, Lancaster County Children and Youth reported a missing child to police.
According to CYA, they had made repeated attempts to locate the Rodgers and her mother since Jan. 8.
Detectives spent Thursday evening and all day Friday searching for the child and Dickson, who also had her other two children with her.
Police say the investigation led them to an address in Coatesville, Friday evening, where the mother and two children were located.
Officials say, as a result of reported abuse, Dickson had been charged with simple assault and endangering the welfare of children.
Further investigation by police found that the Dickson had provided conflicting accounts of the whereabouts of her missing child.
Police say the child had been reported to be at 152 N. Plum St, with her mother, January 2.
Investigators say that Dickson assaulted and killed the child at the North Plum Street address and then disposed of her body.
Dickson is charged with criminal homicide, abuse of a corpse, intimidation, retaliation or obstruction in child abuse cases and endangering the welfare of children.
