Sunanda Pushkar death case: Delhi Police issue notice to Shashi Tharoor for questioning, New Delhi: Taking its ongoing probe into the Sunanda Pushkar death case forward, the Delhi Police on Monday issued a notice to former Union Minister and Congress MP Shashi Tharoor for questioning.

Confirming the development, Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi said, “A notice has been issued to Shashi Tharoor under Section 160 of CrPC. Tharoor may be quizzed within the next few days.”

When further quizzed by the reporters, Bassi said, “Whoever might know about the case will be questioned. Shashi Tharoor will be questioned soon, may be tomorrow or day after,”adding that the Congress leader will arrive in the national capital this evening.

The SIT probing the case will soon arrive at a logical conclusion in the case, the Delhi Police chief said.

Bassi had earlier informed that many people have been questioned in connection with the case and the remaining will be quizzed in the next couple of days.

"Our SIT (Special Investigation Team) is investigating the case and will reach its conclusion soon. They are looking into each and every aspect. They have already questioned several people and the remaining will be questioned in the next couple of days," Bassi had told the media.

Bassi also said the process of sending Pushkar`s viscera abroad for ascertaining the poisonous substance was on.

Pushkar, 52, was found dead in a south Delhi hotel on January 17, 2014. The Delhi Police had lodged a murder case on January 01 this year, two days after getting the final autopsy report from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Soon after lodging the FIR (first information report), the SIT questioned Tharoor`s domestic help.

They also questioned two family friends and Indira Gandhi International airport staff members who reportedly witnessed an alleged heated argument between Tharoor and Pushkar after their arrival from Kerala two days before her death.
