The best memes of the 2015 Golden Globes

The best memes of the 2015 Golden Globes, The Golden Globes produced surprise winners, thoughtful speeches, and, because this is 2015 after all, memes.  The Globes gave the Internet plenty to work with this year, from the inexplicable look Chrissy Teigen had on her face when her husband was accepting his award to Prince’s, well, princely presence.

Here are some of the best gags to emerge from this year’s ceremony.

Benedict Cumberbatch’s photo bomb

Last year, Benedict Cumberbatch photo bombed U2 at the Oscars, this year he photo bombed Meryl Streep and Margaret Cho, the latter of whom was playing a North Korean member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Keep doing this stuff, Benedict, and you’ll keep the Internet under your thumb for as long as you want.

Chrissy Teigen’s odd look

By all accounts, Chrissy Teigen should have been pleased when her husband John Legend won for Best Song with Common. Instead, she made this face. What was this face? The Internet tried to figure it out.

Frances McDormand’s serious face

Cuts to Frances McDormand often showed her with a stoic (angry? grumpy?) face. That drew comparisons to Tommy Lee Jones’s deadpan during the 2013 Golden Globes, which had in turn drawn comparisons to “Grumpy Cat.”

Prince

Prince made a surprise appearance to present the Best Song award. The famous people in the room were really excited to see Prince, because they are mere celebrities and he is Prince, who by virtue of his mere Prince-ness trumps them all.

BuzzFeed’s Jen Lewis then did the good work of sharing what it would be like if Prince were in the nominated films.
