Craig Sager Leukemia

Craig Sager Leukemia, Craig Sager, the Turner Sports NBA sideline reporter known for his colorful outfits, is battling a recurrence of leukemia, his son confirmed.

Sager missed the NBA playoffs last year while undergoing treatment for the disease and had returned to the sideline earlier this month. Craig Sager Jr. announced the news Sunday night on Twitter, saying that there was some comfort this time in knowing “the blueprint” for the new round of treatment and that, immediately, his father is fighting a flu bug.

Sager, 63, has been with Turner for 34 years and countless wild outfits and sideline interviews. He learned last April that he had the disease and returned after 11 months.

“It’s not just the games. It’s the people,” Sager told the Associated Press when he was asked what he had missed most in early March. “The NBA is such a family. I try to get there three hours before the game, talk with the ushers and the security guards, the coaches and the fans . . . I just missed the whole atmosphere. I like being there.”
