$500 lottery ticket, A Texas man gunned down his girlfriend and then turned the weapon on himself after the couple fought because he didn’t want to share his $500 lottery winnings with her, police said.
Terry Martin, 46, was pronounced dead Saturday inside his Fort Worth home, which he shared with his girlfriend, 48-year-old Laurice Hampton, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. Hampton was able to call 911 after she was shot, but died later at a hospital, police said.
Martin recently won $500 from a scratch-off lottery ticket and Hampton asked him to split it with her, Sgt. Joe Loughman said.
The two were fighting over the jackpot when Martin pulled out a gun and shot his girlfriend in the chest and himself in the head, police said.The suspect didn’t want to share it with her,” Loughman said.
The couple, who first met when they were children, lived in the house together for several years.
