Miley Cyrus Tom Cotton

Miley Cyrus Tom Cotton, Tom Cotton’s position lgbt rights has displeased Miley, and she’s directed her legions of fans to flood the senator’s office with phone calls.
Miley Cyrus read a ThinkProgress blog post—and now she wants you to “stir some shit up” and flood a neconservative senator’s office with phone calls.

On Wednesday, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), recently infamous for organizing the highly controversial Iran open letter, responded to the national backlash against the “religious freedom” bill in his home state. Cotton offered up a sense of “perspective” when asked about the issue on CNN: “In Iran, they hang you for the crime of being gay,” he said.

Cyrus was not pleased with Cotton’s deflection.

“Senator Cotton thinks gay community needs to get ‘perspective’ cuz ‘In Iran they hang you for the crime of being gay,’” she tweeted on Thursday, to her nearly 20 million followers. She then followed up:Cotton’s spokeswoman did not respond to The Daily Beast’s request for comment regarding the Miley Cyrus tweet, nor did she answer whether or not the senator’s office was experiencing an uptick in phone calls.

Politically speaking, the singer/songwriter and the Republican lawmaker see eye-to-eye on virtually nothing. A bleeding-heart liberal and Occupy Wall Street supporter, Cyrus is such an enthusiastic supporter of marriage equality, she has literally tattooed herself as such.

Cyrus recently told Time magazine that supporters of Indiana’s anti-gay bill are “dinosaurs, and they are dying off.”

“They’re trying to make [the bill] look like it’s not discriminatory,” she continued. “It’s confusing for my fans, so I’m happy to [speak up about it].”

Cyrus’s other political activity has included supporting President Obama, going to battle against the Dominican Republic government over free expression, and recording a cover of Bob Dylan’s “You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go” for an Amnesty International album:
